Rutherford County Track & Field Recap

Athletes from across Middle Tennessee gathered at the Siegel Invitational to kick off the outdoor track and field season. Rutherford County schools delivered an impressive showing, earning multiple event victories and numerous podium finishes against a competitive field of teams.

Field Event Dominance

Field events proved to be a major strength for the county. Rockvale’s Toju Williams dominated the throws, winning both the Girls Shot Put (44-8) and Girls Discus (139-10). On the boys’ side, Mason Bolen (Siegel) captured the Discus title with a throw of 163-4, leading a sweep of Rutherford County podium finishes in the event.

In the horizontal jumps, Tyree Brown (Rockvale) soared to victory in the Boys Long Jump (22-3). Siegel teammates Terrion Tate and Ryan Biggers completed a strong showing for the county by finishing second and third.

Hurdles & Sprints

The hurdles events were another highlight of the meet. Janiya Elechi-Terrell (Rockvale) won the Girls 100m Hurdles in 16.37, while Ryan Biggers (Siegel) earned 2nd place in the Boys 110m Hurdles, finishing just ahead of Isaiah Camel (LaVergne) in third.

In the sprints, Kirsten Cochran (Siegel) placed 2nd in the Girls 100m Dash, adding another podium finish for the host school.

Distance & Relays

Distance runners Lakin Hailey and Leila Hailey (Rockvale) both earned podium finishes in the Girls 1600m, placing second and third.

In the distance relays, Blackman’s team and Central Magnet showed strong depth in the 4x800m Relay, finishing second and third, respectively. The meet also featured a Mixed 4x400m Relay, where LaVergne High School secured third place.

Additional Highlights

Olivia Clark (Blackman) cleared 9-6 to win the Girls Pole Vault, while Jacques Baker (Oakland) finished 2nd in the Boys 400m Dash.

With strong performances across the track and field events, Rutherford County athletes demonstrated impressive depth early in the season and appear poised for a competitive spring.
